What Medical Conditions do you treat at Bloom Functional Medicine?
This is a great question. As a Family Medicine physician for over 20 years, it was very common for me to see patients with a variety of medical conditions from diabetes to anxiety to joint pain on a daily basis. Since Functional Medicine uses a full body, systems based approach, I am able to treat many conditions through an expanded lens.
Examples of medical conditions treated at Bloom Functional Medicine include:
Allergies and asthma
Diabetes
Digestive disorders (GERD,IBS, etc.)
Fatigue
High cholesterol
Hypertension
Insomnia
Joint pain
Migraine headaches
Mood disorders (anxiety, depression)

Can Bloom Functional Medicine serve as my primary care physician?
At this time, Bloom Functional Medicine plans to serve as an adjunct to the care that you receive from your primary care provider. Bloom Functional Medicine will gladly collaborate with your primary care team regarding your overall care. We require each patient to have a primary care provider for acute care and health maintenance needs. Functional medicine is not a substitute for care from your primary care provider. Therefore, Bloom Functional Medicine will not serve as a primary care provider.
Do you accept insurance?
Bloom Functional Medicine does not accept any type of health insurance, whether private or government funded plans including Medicare. We are happy to provide you with an itemized superbill with ICD-10 codes that you may use to file with your insurance company. You may be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to help the cost of Bloom Functional Medicine’s fees, please check your individual plan. All costs will be transparent.
What lab tests will you order that my primary care provider cannot order?
Bloom Functional Medicine will review all labs that have been ordered by your PCP, and may recommend further bloodwork if deemed necessary for your specific medical conditions. In addition, there may be tests to examine your hormonal status (salivary and/or urinary tests), tests to evaluate your gastrointestinal health, and tests to assess your body’s nutrient status and ability to detoxify. There may be other specialty tests as well if needed. Some of these tests may be covered by your insurance company. The cost of the tests run between $105-$399 each. Advanced functional lab tests can play a vital role in uncovering many underlying medical issues.
Do I have to join a membership program to be a patient?
You may be a patient at Bloom Functional Medicine for just a few visits by scheduling individual appointments, or take advantage of Bloom’s Appointment Packages
After the first follow up appointment, patients may choose if they would like future appointments based on their medical needs. We have found that early on in most patient's health journeys, appointments are required more frequently, and as time goes on, the appointment intervals may be spread out a bit more.
